Your guide to Medical Cannabis & VAC coverage 

Step 1: Complete your Aurora application 

Start by completing Aurora's patient application form. This helps us gather the information needed to support your registration and coverage journey.

Step 2: Connect with a Healthcare Practitioner

Visit your healthcare practitioner or medical cannabis clinic to discuss your treatment needs and complete your medical document.

Step 3: Start Your Treatment Sooner

Once we receive your medical document, we'll submit your coverage request on your behalf and assess your eligibility for Aurora's Pre-Coverage Program. Eligible patients can begin accessing their treatment while their coverage request is under review.

Step 4: Coverage is Finalized

Medavie Blue Cross will review your request and provide a coverage decision. Once approved, we'll apply your VAC coverage and continue supporting your care with dedicated Veteran Concierge service.

Aurora covers the difference between the VAC reimbursement amount and the cost of eligible medical cannabis products. We also provide: Free express shipping, Same-day delivery where available, Dedicated Veteran support Ongoing assistance with your treatment journey. There is never an additional cost to receive your medicine

Affordable Access Beyond Your Coverage Limit

If you've reached your VAC coverage limit for the current 30-day period, eligible products may still be available at Aurora's reduced Veteran rate, helping you maintain access to your treatment when you need it most

Up to $400 toward a vaporizer

Veterans may be eligible for up to $400 in VAC coverage toward a medical cannabis vaporizer every three years. Our team can help with eligibility requirements, recommend appropriate devices, guide you through the Medavie Blue Cross process. We're here to help make the experience as simple as possible

Support for Veteran Families

Spouses of Veterans registered with Aurora who reside at the same address can receive 50% off eligible medical cannabis products. It's one more way we recognize the important role families play in supporting Veteran health and wellness
